The Plot:

Intelligence officer Amanda Waller decides to assemble a team of dangerous, incarcerated supervillains for a top-secret mission. Figuring it has nothing to lose, the U.S. government supplies weapons to Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang and other despicable inmates. Dubbed the Suicide Squad, the united criminals must defeat a mysterious and powerful entity while contending with the antics of the diabolical Joker.

The Verdict:

The much anticipated movie had high expectations with the massive hype around it. Many people are already calling it a cult film, before it has even been released.

The amazing, nostalgia evoking soundtrack for the movie feature songs like House Of The Rising Sun, You Don’t Own Me & Bohemian Rhapsody, along with an array of new and remixed songs introducing each character to the screen.

The movie takes place after the death of Superman in the recent Superman V Batman film and the world needs to look at options to protect itself against a future attack. The decision is made to put together a task force, Task Force X, comprising of the baddest criminals. Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Killer Croc (Adele Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Slipknot (Adam Beach) are all under the command of Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) and Amanda Waller (Viola Davis).

Throughout the movie you do get appearances from Batman/Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck), The Joker (Jared Leto) and The Flash (Ezra Miller).

This movie centres around one character whose passion for world revenge pushes her to fight back. The Enchantress who took over the body of Dr. June Moone (Cara Delevingne) wants revenge on all those who have stolen her heart.

At many points throughout the movie it would seem as though this movie is full of tragic love plots; The Joker and Harley, Dr. June Moone and Rick Flag, Deadshot and his daughter Zoe, as well as Diablo and his family, all have had tragic ends to their love stories. Or do they?

There are many different storylines throughout this movie which can get overwhelming, but I'm sure in the future we will get to see more of each character and their pasts.

There are rumours that after the smash hit Deadpool broke box office records with much of its odd comical dialogue, the Suicide Squad production team went back to shoot scenes to add a little more humour into the movie. Did it work? Was it worth it? In my personal opinion, it didn’t add that much to the movie. Each squad member had a short back story told as they were introduced, which had a little comic relief in the titles. The short introductions were good for those who have never read the DC comics without being drawn out and a bore the existing fan base.

This movie is worth seeing for any DC or Marvel comic book fans plus any fan of action movies. Be warned though, you might want to think twice about taking the kids.
