The Plot:

In 1977, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren come out of a self-imposed sabbatical to travel to Enfield, a borough in north London. There, they meet Peggy Hodgson, an overwhelmed single mother of four who tells the couple that something evil is in her home. Ed and Lorraine believe her story when the youngest daughter starts to show signs of demonic possession. As the Warrens try to help the besieged girl, they become the next target of the malicious spirits.

The Verdict:

This movie was certainly a surprise and left me having to clean my pants afterwards. Congratulations Australian Director James Wan.

Personally I’m not a massive fan of super scary movies. So many of them are predictable, unrealistic and just end up being stupid, but this movie left me really enjoying it and wanting more.

There are many times through the movie that you have a little laugh but I’m guessing these parts are intentionally put in so your pants can have time to dry.

In this sequel we rejoin Ed and Lorraine Warren as they are search for the reasons behind the haunting of the infamous Amityville house in 1975, where Ronald DeFeo Jr shot and killed his parents along with his four siblings while they slept in their beds. Was Ronald possessed by something evil?

Fast forward a year to 1977, after their Amityville sitting the Warren’s are out on the media rounds talking about their experiences on talk shows while sceptics try to explain how evil spirits don’t exist.

Meanwhile in a North London, divorced mother Margaret Hodgson lives with her four children. Their happy home life is about to be turned on its head when a bizarre phenomena starts happening. The children start complaining that their beds are shaking at night, chests of draws moving in the dark and mysterious knocking within the walls.

As the haunting gets worse Margaret begins to fear that her eleven year old daughter, Janet is the key focus of this spirit’s attentions. Janet's internal mumblings, strange deep voices start to worry the family. Word gets out to the press about the paranormal activities in this little townhouse and the news reaches America where Ed and Lorraine are asked to visit the family by the church, to see if all of this is hoax.

This movie is a must see for all horror and thriller lovers. I will be sleeping with the lights on for a while.
