The Plot:
Five ordinary teens must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove - and the world - is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it's too late, band together as the Power Rangers.

The Verdict:
Even though Power Rangers came out after I had gone through my childhood, I have still seen many episodes.
Like any good successful Japanese show, Americans pick it up and make their own version.
Power Rangers are basically a team of teenage aliens fighters who wear lycra suits all while saying stupid one liners and waving their arms around.
The movie starts off with battle between an alien dark force and the past Power Rangers team. Zoom forward a few hundred years to present time. We meet five teens who all meet in school detention and unbeknownst to them, they would all soon be superheroes saving their home town of Alice Grove, from the evil ruin of Rita Repulsa.
The movie is a little slow at the beginning but when it gets to the fighting at the end it's short-lived. I was expecting more action, over the top acting and a nod to the original cheap looking monsters.
If you have a keen eye see if you an spot cameo roles from the original American Power Rangers.
The movie is highly entertaining and the soundtrack is reminiscent of Tron: Legacy and Stranger Things. I wouldn't be see this movie again though.
