Super Troopers 2

The Plot:

Fired for their previous shenanigans, former Vermont Highway Patrol officers Thorny, Farva, Rabbit, Foster and Mac get a shot at redemption from Capt. O'Hagan and Gov. Jessan. The wacky quintet must provide law enforcement for a French Canadian town that's transitioning to U.S. sovereignty. Their unconventional methods soon get put to the test when they encounter a smarmy mayor, mischievous Mounties, a smuggling ring and a 1,300-pound bear.

The Verdict:

This dimwitted comedy will have you laughing the whole way through.

When I saw the trailer for this move I though ‘here we go, another dumb American non funny comedy’. Since being a sequel to the original 2001 film Super Troopers, it has a lot to live up to.

This story is about the original patrol team, now fired from the force they find themselves in the building trade to make ends meet. Rabbit dreams the team is a band called ‘Crispy Bacon’ that became big after being on America’s Got Talent. They all miss the force.

As men do in American, they organised a fishing trip for the weekend to Vermont, across the Canadian border. Little did they know what was going to come next.

The United States government has just realised Vermont actually belongs to them and not Canada. The boys were brought to Vermont for a fishing trip under false pretences and are welcomed by their old boss Captain O’Hagan who has good news for the boys. Before they know it the team is back together helping to ensure the border transition is smooth and to educate the local residents of Vermont on the American way.

For me, some of the funniest parts of the movie are when the Canadians start making jokes about the Americans for such things as still being on the imperial measuring system and the Americans joke with the Canadians for their French accent and incorrect pronouncation of words.

The main plot of the movie centers around the troopers figuring out how to crack a drug smuggling ring before the drugs enter the United States when the border is changed. Is it a local gang? Is it the Canadian Police? Is it the local government?

As much as this movie is full of funny one and two liners, it is highly entertaining to watch. If you’re looking for a movie for a bit of a laugh this weekend, check out Super Troopers 2.
