Get out & see the world

Travel is an amazing thing. It's something everyone should try to do. It gives you a look into cultures outside of your own & allows you to create experiences that will last with you for a life time.

When travelling international, the hardest thing is the jet lag. When you arrive at your destination, the last thing you want to suffer from is jet lag and miss out on experiencing the amazing culture you have arrived in.

"We have a natural rhythm to our bodies, and it's pretty well set," says Dr Vivek Jain, director of the George Washington University's Center for Sleep Disorders. "Airlines are starting to adjust when long fli...

Pack your shoes with a shower cap

When packing shoes, wrap them in a shower cap to stop your clothes getting dirty.

You can also drop in a couple of those extra hotel room tea bags to keep them smelling fresh.

Wrap shirts and undies into an easy sock bundle

When packing for an overnight stay, you can make a handy clothes bundle to save space.

Just fold your underwear into a T-shirt, before laying some socks on top and rolling it up...

We woke at 5:15am and waited in reception for our 6am pick up. This morning a small group of us will be heading down to Victoria Falls National Park to watch the sunrise over the stunning natural wonder. This truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity. With the continuing drought that had gripped the African continent, this natural marvel may not be around for many years to come.

I woke to the sound of mosquitoes buzzing around my head. Even though there was a mosquito net all around us. I wasn’t sure if the net was to keep them in or out sometimes.

After a buffet breakfast, we got changed into our swimwear and packed a change of clothes for this mornings tour.

We all meet in reception at 7:45am and walked about 15 minutes down the road to the Kingdom Hotel where today's tour company was picking us up,...

We woke at 6 am to prepare for our hotel buffet breakfast. My sister and I went downstairs to enjoy the vast selection that Southern Sun O.R Tambo International Airport as to offer.

Breakfast was reasonably quick today as we needed to leave the hotel so ensure we had enough time to pass through security and passport control before our flight.

We all met in reception at 8 am to head the 4 minutes across to the airport where we f...

This morning was an early start at 5:45am. The air was very fresh.

As it was our final morning before leaving Ngama, we started our walking safari journey around our private game park to see what animals we could see.

This morning was an early start. The alarm went off at 4:30 am. On this brisk morning, we rugged up and headed back out to Manyeleti for a morning game drive.

The best time to do game drives is in the morning or afternoon. It is cooler for the animals. The hot sun during the day makes the animals tired and less likely to be active for you to see.

This morning we awoke to find our tent surrounded by Zebras. It was amazing to sit on the balcony and enjoy my morning tea while watching nature right in front of you.

Just a few tents down they had a giraffe near their tent. Hard to see as he was hidden behind the trees, but you could spot his long legs.

Our first night in the South African wilderness.

My body clock still hadn't adjusted to the time change yet. I was awake early.

5:30 am.

Breakfast wasn't until 8:30 am so there was plenty of time to wake up and make some tea for my sister. We enjoyed a stunning sunrise and the sound of nature waking up, while everyone else slept in. The morning air was very fresh, so rugging up was called for.

The lodge staff were up early clea...

Sleep was amazing. I felt like I had been sleeping for hours, only to find it was 1:30 am in the morning. I was awoken by my sister, who I’m sharing the room with, using the bathroom. She tried so hard to keep the light to a minimum to not disturb me. To bad. The bathroom has a frosted transparent wall into the bedroom which lit up the room. No need to worry. After a bit we both fell back to sleep to await our 7:45 am alarm, w...
